Principles of Homeopathy

The Law of Simulars - The first principle is similia similibus curentur which is a Latin phrase meaning likes cure like. This law demonstrates that the selected remedy is able to produce a range of symptoms in a healthy person similar to that observed in the patient. Each person shows symptoms of his body, mind, and emotions when they are sick. Some of these symptoms are common to the particular sickness and some of them are unique to that person in their sickness. The homeopathic physician matches the individual unique symptom of the patient and the symptoms of the homeopathic remedy.

The Law of a Single Remedy - Classical homeopaths give only one remedy at a time to more precisely observe the effects of that one medicine to restore health. If a combination of remedies were given they would not have the same effects as the original provings of the drugs and could interact with one another in an unknown way and not stimulate healing as well.

The Law of Minimum Dose - The similar remedy selected for a sick should be prescribed in minimum dose, Drugs given to people in material doses are frequently found to cause side effects or adverse reactions. To minimize this problem, the homeopath gives the smallest possible dose so as to maximize the healing effects and minimize the side effects of the medicine so that when administered there is no toxic effects on the body. It just acts as a triggering and catalytic agent to stimulate and strengthen the existing defense mechanism of the body.
