Law of directional cure

The direction of cure is a homeopathic principle that states when treatment is progressively restoring health to the patient it will occur in a certain pre-determined direction.

When the symptoms are suppressed and new symptoms occur on a deeper organ system it is clear to see the original disease was not "cured" but only suppressed by the previous medical treatment. For example, a patient with a past history of skin eruptions treated with cortisone ointments, now has complaints of asthma as the original skin disease is pushed deeper into the body.

When treatment is progressing in a restorative direction the appearance or "re-appearance" of minor discharge and eruptions of the skin or mucous membrane may occur as the body discharges toxins that were previously within the body. The past symptoms of previous complaints may also re-appear in the lesser important organs while progressing towards the complete restoration of health. The progressive restoration of health would see the disappearance of asthma followed by reappearance of previous skin eruptions before health was totally restored.
